+Plus 1 Exhibition
To mark the end of another year, LANTANA held +Plus 1 Exhibition, a casual group exhibition featuring LANTANA Space artists and their plus-ones.
The afternoon welcomed beers, bbq and a display of diverse local works. This being LANTANA's first-ever exhibition, it was awesome to see the community engage with the space. I enjoyed catching up with fellow artists alike and meeting new faces.
I showed three pieces which included both old and new works on canvas titled Sea Foam, Where This Star Shines #4 and Up-Cycled Pot Memories of You, Blue.
Memories of You, Blue was sourced + saved from collecting dust in an op-shop. It was then transformed into an art piece. The shape lent itself to a multi-faceted story which consists of 8 edges. Up-Cycling has been a way for me to experiment with shapes + paintings while also giving a second (or third) life to a discarded pot.
Showing Where This Star Shines #4 for the first time held great personal + artistic significance and I was delighted to share it with others.
Connecting origins of loneliness and growth, Where This Star Shines #4 draws on the notion of overcoming ongoing struggles and shining brighter than before. Vibrant blue hues mask + uncover symbolic elements to contrast the past and present.
