Artist Statement: 2021
Evelyn Marina Paolino is a mixed-media artist living on the Sunshine Coast. Originally from Perth, Evelyn received a Bachelor of Arts (Creative Advertising and Graphic Design) from Curtin University in 2013, and has worked as a graphic designer ever since. Evelyn has designed for magazines, and most recently, created textiles for fashion label Finders Keepers, as well as their new brand identity. She is currently a graphic designer for clothing line Palm Noosa.
The Sunshine Coast artist’s work is intuitive, meditative and process-driven. Evelyn experiments with predominantly ink, acrylic, spray paint, pastel, pencil and marker to produce abstract works on canvas and paper. Evelyn grew up on the beach, and her love for the water is reflective in her work. She explores the restorative aspects of nature, particularly the healing power of the ocean, expressed through flowing shades of blue.
She is partaking in Sunshine Coast Arts funded DISrupt Workshop with mentor Alison Mooney. Her artwork was exhibited in the 2020 'Woman of Art' exhibition at Thomas Surfboards in Noosa, and she will be featured in The Shelter Sunshine Coast Magazine released January 2021.
