The Bentley’s 40 Under 40: Exhibition

The Bentley’s 40 Under 40 Exhibition, held at The Butter Factory Arts Centre in Cooroy, began on Friday 15th of January, 2021.

The artwork deadline culminated at the end of 2020. It was almost as if the opportunity granted me a sign - to reflect on all that was in my first year practising art.

Leading up to the opening, I prepared the only way I knew how. Meditation, swimming in the ocean and writing felt easy as if I had this newfound boost of confidence.

Filled with Sunshine Coast’s best 40 artists and 500 guests, the opening night didn’t disappoint. There was live music from Jakob Lydford, Dj Rafiki, Cupid and the Stupids and Old Home as well as beer, food trucks and contemporary dancers. It was especially motivating to see the community get behind the local arts scene.

I relished in the kind words of others, was motivated by talented artists, and celebrated my passion. For the first time during my practice, I was able to observe and admire the whole process.
