In this mood board, I show representations of my poetry and visual attractions. An image which has fascinated me is a concrete construction mural from José Gurvich (top right).

José Gurvich once said, “My intention is free creative play…where the freedom of the image and the freedom of the space emerge, generating a spontaneity without rational considerations that will stop me from speculating.”

I resonate with this as I continue to pursue freedom and spontaneity when painting.

I continue to use my creativity to develop symbols that will illustrate my observations and feelings. I was drawn to an entry I wrote in January 2020, the first of the year.

It tells of tattooing two small daisies on my feet as a reminder to trust myself, my decisions and observe what's happening around me. Similarly, I bring attention to the absence of light as I went to sleep. This comes not long after I had visited my family in Western Australia, the darkness reminiscent of feeling separate from my loved ones. I mention the presence of blue on my hands - another reminder of my calling.

The artwork illustrates the path I have set for myself, connected daisies and two contrary depictions of the eyes I saw (see) through.

Observations 27•01•20

Daisies on my feet so whenever I look down I remember to stay grounded.

We close our eyes, it's so dark that I wonder if my eyes are even open.

I paint till my hands are blue. It's stuck under my fingernails but I don't mind.
It reminds me of my calling, my craving, my motivation.
