sundown sentiments public art mural

'sundown sentiments' (2022) 9 x 2m mural for the metropolitan located at the corner of first ave + south sea islander way, maroochydore.

Inspiration for this mural came from a transitional moment in time. Watching the sundown at my local beach of Marcoola, I noticed small ocean pools forming in the sand creating a series of natural mirrors. Every angle of reflection was different, with the portals of seawater offering the illusion that the sky lay directly at my feet. As the tide came in, the mirror pools disappeared, and a soft glow of orange and pink colours formed along the horizon.

'Sundown Sentiments' invites us to pay closer attention to our deep relationship with nature. It encourages us to take the time to be more intentional and reflective, so we can remember to enjoy the small moments of connection and beauty that can often pass us by.
